Onondaga Neighborhood Legal Services, Inc. is changing its name to Legal Services of Central New York, Inc. to reflect its expanded service area, which now includes Oswego, Cayuga, Cortland and Jefferson counties in addition to Onondaga County. Our mission is to provide free legal assistance to people throughout the central New York area. The obvious truth is that legal representation in civil cases involving the basic necessities of life is fundamental to the administration of justice. Legal Aid Society of Mid-New York, Inc. is a nonprofit corporation that provides free information, advice, and civil representation to residents of Jefferson, Lewis, Oswego, Oneida, Herkimer, Cayuga, Onondaga, Madison, Cortland, Chenango, Otsego, Broome, and Delaware counties, as well as to New York State farm workers who are eligible and cannot afford to hire an attorney to assist them with civil law issues and issues. Lowe Center for Justice at 221 South Warren Street in Syracuse, bringing together under one roof several providers of free legal services to low-income people.

The Office of Clinical Legal Education represents individuals and groups in Siracusa and surrounding communities who cannot afford private lawyers or other available legal services. Central New York Legal Services, Mid-New York Legal Aid Society, and Broome and Chenango County Legal Aid organize the 3 organizations into 2 separate 501(c)(3) organizations – Legal Services of Central New York and the Legal Aid Society of Mid-New York. As a result, LSCNY is now able to represent non-citizens, file class actions and amicus curiae briefs, and pursue other legal strategies to better serve its clients. Central New York Legal Services and the Mid-New York Legal Aid Society together form the Central New York Legal Helpline, which allows low-income people in all 13 boroughs to call a toll-free number for free legal advice, improving the accessibility of legal services. Four major providers of free legal services are located at 221 South Warren Street in Syracuse while the Hiscock Legal Aid Society moves part of its office to the George H. Lowe Center for Justice.
